Best Alarm Clock Sound

For the last two years I have been working as a freelance Internet Marketer. I have found that it has both its good and bad points.

GOOD: You can avoid having the alarm clock sound.

BAD: The hours you put in might leaving you thinking that the best alarm clock noise would be that which is waking you to go punch a time clock somewhere.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what I had to do starting today. Seems that I have forgotten what a pain in the butt these puppies can be. 5AM and it starts disrupting the beauty of a perfectly serene night like a squawking chicken wanting to be fed.

I already miss the days before the need of the alarm clock.

It would be great to be able to work for myself. Many people do. However, for now it seems best financially to work for someone else. For many, the only question is who?

The jobs are out there, a person just needs to be willing to step down a notch or two from what they would normally expect. This fact was even pointed out in the training I went through today. They clearly said that some in this room are likely using this job as a stepping-stone of sorts.

Such would be the case for me, though finding out exactly where a position may lead can sometimes be very exciting indeed. For example, say I work below my means for six months and then they have an internal to the company job open.

Qualifications being equal, who is more likely to receive that job? A person who is applying from the outside, or a person that is internal to the company itself?

I know. I know.

Sometimes things don’t work the way that they should. But in a perfect world, having had a vested interest in the company would likely lead a person to be in a stronger position for being offered the job than being external to the entire workings of that same company.

This actually makes sense if you think about it.

· All entry paperwork has been completed
· The person understands company operations
· The company already has an idea of what type of performance to expect from the applicant

Those are just some of the benefits of being an internal candidate.

So next time you are tempted to think that the best alarm clock sound, would be no alarm clock sounding at all. Consider your alternatives. If working for yourself isn’t making ends meet the way that you want join forces with a company that you wouldn’t mind growing old with. Even if you start at a lower level you might just find yourself more than a little surprised as to where you end up.
